Life Lately - Mini Vacation from PA School

Monday, August 29, 2016

Hello all! If you've been keeping up on the blog, you may know that we finished our first semester of PA school on August 19th! We had a 10 day break in between our summer and fall semesters and it's been an absolutely refreshing & relaxing 10 days. It was a much needed break that gave me enough time to recuperate and start out the next semester strong. Just to mix it up a little, I thought I'd do a little recap of how I spent my break away from the books!

Friday - We had one of our easier finals (for our Intro to PA profession class) and we were absolutely thrilled to be finally done! After a little breakfast celebration, we all headed home to see our families!

Saturday & Sunday - I pretty much spent the entire weekend catching up on sleep, binge watching Netflix, and going out with friends from my hometown on Saturday night. Sunday I slowly started to get my life together so that I could be organized when school starts back up and wouldn't have to worry about anything. This consisted of giving my car a wash, going shopping for things I had been needing while I was in school, and so on.

Monday - I decided to be a little more productive and started looking at all the books I needed this upcoming semester and placed my order through Amazon. If you follow along on Instagram, you'll know that I also decided to treat myself for making it through my first semester of PA School and ordered my first Kate Spade wallet! I love this little beauty and have absolutely enjoyed carrying it around all week long.

Tuesday - This day was all about getting pampered. My mom and I went to get a mani-pedi and then I also got a hair cut. I also started packing for my trip to North Carolina to see my sister and brother in law AND one of my best friends the next day!

Wednesday - I flew over to Raleigh and spent the evening with one of my best friends from college! It was so lovely catching up with her and staying up way too late on a week night (she had work the next morning). But as usual, time always flies by fast while you're in good company and before we knew it, it was time to go. Even though it was a short visit, it was just what I needed. I love having friends that even when you haven't had the chance to speak in a while, you pick up right where you left off!

Thursday - Thursday was spent shopping and indulging in retail therapy with my sister. I got a new watch from Fossil and absolutely love it. I don't like wearing anything on my wrists normally but figured I'd have to get used to it at some point. Conveniently, Loft had a 50% sale going on with $50 cash back so my sister and I totally took advantage of that! I also found cute rompers and dresses from Charlotte Russe and Forever 21 (one of them is pictured above).  Later that night we went out for dinner at a pizza place followed by chilling at a beer garden.

Friday - Beach day! This was the part of the trip I was most looking forward to and it was absolutely lovely. The sis, brother in law, & I drove down to Carolina Beach in the afternoon and drove back at night. There wasn't a huge crowd around, the temperature of the water was just right, and it was so peaceful. Everything was just perfect. I had zero desire to leave (as you may have seen on my Instagram stories) but unfortunately it had to be done. I started to feel like I was getting sick on our drive to the beach and I absolutely had a sore throat by the time we made it back home at night.

Saturday - I woke up feeling like crap so we decided to stay in for the day. It was absolutely the best yet the worst time to get sick. I'm glad I got sick when I didn't have to be in school but at the same time, it sucked to be sick during my last two days of freedom. I guess it was my body's way of telling me to really slow down and recuperate. And while I was laying in bed willing my body to get better, I ended up ordering this clutch from Nordstrom that I'd had my eye on for a while. Because what else is a girl supposed to do when she's confined to a bed during her vacation?  It was finally back in stock and I made sure I got it before it was gone again.

Sunday - And just like that our break was over. After a day of rest and lazying around, I was feeling a lot better (thankfully) when I woke up. We went out for brunch at a local place called Fiction Kitchen and of course brunch is not really brunch unless you have mimosas! After that we drove to Cameron Village and visited the shops there and got more mimosas until it was time for me to fly back to school and get ready for today!

Today is our first day of fall semester and once again I'm nervous yet so, so excited! We finally get to dive in head first into clinical classes this semester and that's both nerve wrecking yet thrilling! Our first class tomorrow is Physical Assessment followed by Introduction to Psychiatry. I will share what our fall semester is going to be like soon in an upcoming post, so stay tuned!

What did you all do this weekend? Hope everyone has a productive week ahead!
