Packing List

Hello friends! It's been quite a while since I've written a lifestyle post. Honestly, school has left me with little time to be as organized in other areas of life like I used to be and so my organized self hasn't had a chance to publish much in this department.

Hello everyone! We are officially on Christmas break and so I thought I'd finally share a typical day in the life of my surgery rotation. This is from a few weeks ago but I just never got a chance to share the post since life was pretty hectic on this rotation.

5:55 am - alarm goes off. Today I'm rounding on patients at the hospital with my substitute preceptor, so I wake up earlier. My preceptor is on vacation so for the time being, I'm rotating with an attending who also works at my preceptor's practice.

6:05: alarm goes off. I keep hitting snooze until 6:15 and lay there in bed for a few mins before getting out of bed.

Clinical medicine is your meat and potatoes of your didactic year. Once you are past the non-clinical classes, you will spend majority of your time learning diseases and how to diagnose and treat them in your clin med classes. We had three semesters of clin med at our school and we learned by organ systems such as cardiovascular, pulmonology, GI, hematology, etc.

We did it people!!! As of last Friday, didactic year is finally over. I have no idea how but somehow I survived the last 15 months and made it to the light at the end of the tunnel. This past week has been our week off so I have been enjoying my study free time. I thought it was time to sit down and gather my thoughts about this crazy journey and share them with you all.

I have some exciting news to share with you all today (it may have something to do with finally telling y'all where I go to school ;) stay tuned). If you've been following along on my Instagram stories, you know that this Friday we had our White Coat Ceremony at school!!

I have recently been asked by new PA students on Instagram what apps I use and find helpful in PA school so I thought I'd share it on the blog. I'd like to clarify that I am not getting any compensation by any company and these opinions are completely my own and are based on the experiences I've had with them.

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone! I'm finally sitting down to reflect upon and write about our spring semester of didactic year. As you may have seen before, I've written about my first and second semesters after finishing finals. It has crossed my mind several times but I have been avoiding writing about it, mainly because I didn't want to think about how hard spring semester was. I was just glad to be done and never wanted to think about it again. However, I think I have finally recovered enough to be able to sit down and share my experience from the last 4 months.

Man oh man are finals in PA school though. Spring semester was taxing in so many ways that even though no one likes finals, I was actually looking forward to them just so this semester would come to an end. Today, I wanted to share what has been working for me the last 3 semesters to survive finals weeks (because just 1 week of finals in PA school is not enough):

Third semester of PA school is finally over and we are enjoying our 10 days off! A serious amount of studying in the library was done in order to prepare for finals and to get here in one piece. I always have a few things handy when I know I'm going to spend a long day hunkered down in the library and I thought I'd share that with you all today.

Hi! Today I wanted to switch it up a little and do a fun "what's in my bag" post that's still related to PA school. Since I'm a PA student, my day revolves around a lot of studying, lectures, sometimes books, and lots of snacking. I need to carry a lot around with me and this Aldo bag (similar, not the same, but currently on sale!) allows me to do just that. I've switched between a lot of bags within the last year but this hand-me-down from my sister has been the best fit for me so far.

I see a lot of people asking when they should take the GRE
and how to best prepare for it, so here are some of my thoughts on the GRE.

I get a lot of questions on the best ways to study for medical physiology and pathophysiology from students. Now that we're in the third and last (thank goodness) semester of phys/pathophys, I thought I'd look back on what study methods I've cultivated over the last 2 and a half semesters.

Studying for your first pharmacology exam can be quite a daunting task. I think that pharmacology is like learning a whole new language. The words all sound funny and you have to learn so many things about each drug, including it's mechanism of action, side effects, concerns, contraindications, and doses. So at first, it all seemed very overwhelming and I didn't know where to begin. There are different ways to study for it, but today I wanted to share the way that's been tried and tested by myself and some dear friends of mine.

Today was one of my favorite days of PA school. A group of us from class (we do this on a rotating basis) got to hold a mini seminar for the members of underserved community to talk to them about anything healthcare related. My group chose to talk about the flu! We talked about what the flu was, how you can get it/ways to prevent from getting it, the importance of flu shots, and how to get treated for it. There were so many questions that everyone asked and a lot of discussions that started up to better their understanding. It was so lovely to see how much they cared about their health and how eager they were to learn and to listen to what we had to share.

(my sweet friend Rachel and I after we drew each other's blood. She was a fantastic first patient!)
Hi y'all! I can't believe how long I went without writing a post. We were told that last semester was supposed to be the "beast" but I think they meant to say that for THIS semester. Since I'm preparing for midterm this weekend, I thought I'd talk about clinical procedures aka my FAVORITE class this semester. I have been posting pictures on Instagram almost every week so I thought I'd share a little bit more about it.

Happy new year everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing holiday season :) I surely have been enjoying my 3 weeks off from school and had so much fun seeing family and friends over break that I almost didn't want to come back from India ;). As much as I miss seeing my classmates, this break was much needed. Nevertheless, all good things come to an end and we start Spring semester on Monday, the 9th! I am finally willing to reflect on our last semester and share my experiences with you all.
